Joe Freeman graduated from Hewitt-Trussville High School and earned a Bachelor of Science from Auburn University in Political Science. Joe was active in campus organizations including Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, Student Government Association and College Republicans. He was elected state Chairman of Alabama College Republicans. Joe also founded the Auburn University chapter of Ducks Unlimited.
Joe began his professional career at Morgan Keegan as an investment broker with a specialty in fixed income investments and the special needs of the branch banking system. He later joined Protective Securities, a subsidiary of Protective Life Corporation, where he spent many years as a Vice President of investment banking. Last year, Joe opened the Alabama office for the investment banking firm of Crews & Associates. His focus has been on state level issuers of tax-exempt bonds, higher education and local governments.
Joe is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Trussville. He is a member of the National Rifle Association. He is a former member of the Steering Committee of the Alabama Republican Party and has served on the Jefferson County Republican Executive Committee for the past 10 years. He has served on numerous non profit boards including Rotary, Camp Smile a Mile, Birmingham Ducks Unlimited and the Birmingham Irish Cultural Society. Joe was appointed by the House of Representatives in 2012 to serve on the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex board of directors.
